#178 ~ DIY DRESS HEMMING

Hello there lovelies,
So today I want to give you a little Do It Yourself post! On how to shorten a dress! I bought this dress at a vintage store, and I absolutely loved the print and the colours, so vibrant and perfect for spring! I think the neckline is very beautifull, something different! But the shape and length of the dress really isn't flattering for my body! So I shortened it! Wanna see how I did that?

So this is what the dress looks like, pretty huh?

What you'll need is: a dress you want to shorten, measuring tape, a little crayon (mine is made for sewing and stuff, so it will get off your clothes easily), and some pins. What I forgot: you also need a pair of fabric scissors.

So what you're going to do first is measure on yourself to where you want the dress to end. I measured it from shoulders down. Then measure the same length on your dress.

Mine was 90 centimeters long, it's more than I wanted, I did this because I didn't want to cut it too short by accident. You can always cut off more if it's too long. Mark where you want your dress to end.

I made little marks all over the dress, this helps with cutting.

So cut your dress :). Make sure you stay parrallel with the original hem of the dress.

Then fold your dress inside out, and fold the bottom about one centimeter up. Pin it all around!

And start sewing! That's it actually, you can ofcourse check the length when you pinned it, I did and I had to take about five centimeters more off.

And this is the result, I'm so so happy, I LOVE it! It's flowy and girly, and the fabric feels so soft and nice. I think it suits with skin- and haircolor.
